When someone contacts you and says they want to capture the moment when they get engaged I get goosebumps, the chance to photograph something like that is really special. And if you know the person, it makes it even better. Emile and Sam got engaged a few days ago, the whole thing was set up to be a shoot similar to the ones we normally shoot with Sam when i do my photography mentorship sessions or the photography workshops. When Sam’s mom Fleur-Riette called me about it, even though this was super late notice and I was so busy, I couldn’t say no.
There are two kinds of wedding processionals – those where the bridesmaids take 3.2 seconds to cover the 50 yard dash, I mean walk down the aisle, and those where the wedding party takes 10 minutes to dance their way to the altar. I prefer the second option because you get enough time to take pictures and it’s just so much fun!
Ryan and the guys got ready at 54 on Bath in Rosebank – a really cool hotel with loads of options and a pool deck with views of the rosebank rooftops.
Saturday saw us joining Jennifer and Darren as they shared their wedding with family and friends at the Hertford Hotel. I was last there for Dieter and Marcelle’s wedding about a hundred years ago, so it was good to be back. It is a really lovely venue.
