After we shot the décor it was off to Michelle and the girls getting ready. Hair and makeup was in full swing so we shot the dress, shoes etc. Michelle had requested a boudoir shoot – although quite nervous, she did very well, the pics were so cool!

And then that storm…

Water was streaming down the roads, the grass was underwater and I could see guests running across the grass trying not to get wet. Unsuccessfully mind you. We headed to the guys for widor’s prep.

I was hoping that the weather would clear by the time we were done with the ceremony and thank goodness that was the case.

We spend the couple shoot avoiding mud and areas that were underwater while still trying to get as much variety in the pictures as possible. I think we did well, the pics are cool and the dress was still relatively clean :-)

The dates for the march off camera flash workshop have been finalised. Please see the information below and let me know if you have any questions – i would love to see you there!

All you need is enthusiasm, your camera and an external flash, but if you do not have an external flash, no problem – i am sure we can get someone to loan you one.
If you have a laptop, bring it along to backup your images as well as choose and process a few images for the Q&A at the end of the day.

If you have off camera flash equipment, bring it along, but if not – really not a problem at all.

The workshop is a full day hands on workshop with limited numbers so you can get the most out of the time.

I arrived and shot the decor first as usual, the more i looked, the more i liked it. Simple, but still with a lot of little personal touches. Next it was off to the girls and the manic bridal room :-)
Dress, shoes, jewellery and loads of candid shots. As Murri was running late i went to the guys and did their prep before heading back to the girls to finish off before the ceremony.

The couple photos went well even though Murri was still as tense about the photos at the end – she just really didn’t like having her photo taken :-)

Then it was into the reception and the crazy group of family and friends took over.
Awesome couple, awesome party and thank goodness the rain from the morning cleared up!

So we headed off to the circus for their themed e-session – Franita and Peter brought some cool props and it was a lot of fun i must say.

But let me backtrack a little, we arrived at Shepstone and started on the décor before going up to shoot Natalie’s prep. Eve had produced a clean classic look with Natalie’s red accent colour and the cake, what a cool twist on the cake topper :-) Natalie and her entourage looked cool in their matching t-shirts. The hair was still being done and in the background, the dress was still being sewn – a long story, but it was an all-nighter for the dressmaker.

When Natalie had her dress on, well, you read the first paragraph :-)

She looked spectacular and very, very excited. Dono was looking a little less relaxed, he seemed to be in fast forward mode. I have not spent a lot of time with them, but today he was less relaxed that usual i think :-)

We finished with the boys and went out to the Dutch Lawn only to find the rain had started and before long it was pouring and 80+ guests were trying to squash into the chapel and find a place to sit. It is always such a pity when it rains, I always feel terrible – there is nothing much we can do except make the best of it.
Fortunately Natalie and Dono took it in their stride and there was an area we could take pictures without getting soaked. I wish we could have done more outside, they looked awesome and the location would have been the cherry on the top.

I am happy with what we got, but as always I wish I could have shot more!

Kyle and Simone were amazing, nervous, but amazing, i hope i get to shoot their wedding :-)

In Shannyn’s room it was calm and collected, but that ramped up to crazy / full / hot and hectic when about a brazilian people came in to say hi and some needed to dress – hectic, just the way i like it. Eventually we managed to clear the room a little and the dressing started – along with some hilarious ways of putting shoes on :-)

According to the weather service it was going to rain all day, with thunder showers later on so the ceremony was going to be moved inside. Ironically, when we were getting closer to the ceremony time, it cleared and the sun shone brilliantly. The ceremony was still pretty cool in their chapel though.

When it came time for the couple shots it had clouded over again and to be honest it was pretty dark under the trees and in certain areas.
Things were running quite late so the light was fading and obviously i would have liked to have had more time ( Don’t i always say that :-| ) because the venue had some pretty cool areas. It would also have been great if it was not muddy in some of the areas, but overall i think we got some really cool shots.

Shannyn and Ricky, enjoy the Maldives and Dubai, shop till you drop guys!
