This project is about everyday women confronting the issues they have with their body and instead of holding on
to their perceptions, to look at their body objectively and to see it’s beauty. When we realise we are all beautiful in our own way,
we can move from feeling “imperfect” to “I’m perfect” and I can do anything!
I started this project to produce beautiful photographs of women of all shapes and sizes, young or old, big or small, with tattoos and scars, those who love their body and those who really don’t. The idea was to provided these women with an opportunity to challenge themselves, end a period of self doubt or recrimination and to experience something that would make them feel empowered and ready to take on the world. A new beginning.
As a woman there is a lot of pressure to look amazing all the time and for some it is too much and they buckle under the pressure. Whether its their tummy, their legs, a wrinkle or two, it often leads to hiding behind layer upon layer of clothing and gets to a point that they feel terrible about their appearance.
Interestingly enough, this perception comes from women who range from a size 2 to a size 14 – each and every one of them has something about their body that they feel could be improved.
I have also met the most confident go-getters who are really, really curvy and would jump at the chance of having a nude portrait taken of themselves.
There has been such a lot of interest in the project, women who thought they would never even consider a nude portrait are looking at the images and realizing that it is not about the body, but about the courage to take the first step to loving or at the very least accepting their body and seeing that they are also beautiful. The journey it takes to get there is so amazing to be a part of.
All these women have shown such strength and courage, they are all amazing, strong, inspiration and most of all, beautiful women!
Something very important to remember is that it’s not a shoot about bums and boobs, it is not a fashion shoot either – it is about empowering women are not confident about their shape or size and to create an image that could bring them to tears. Either for the effort it took to get there or for the realization that their body is not as bad as they thought it was.
How to get involved
If you are interested and would like to have a chat and find out more, please contact me, let’s have coffee and discuss how we would approach the shoot for you.
I feel it is important to chat about your concerns and expectations as well as for you to get to know me – without trust, this project would not work at all.
The shoot is done in my studio where I can control the lighting and the shoot then becomes more about you and your body without any distracting elements you might find in a home for example. Having said that, if you feel more comfortable at your home we can definitely go that route.
This project would not have been possible without the amazing people i have been lucky enough to meet and to photograph.
This project presented me with the perfect little full stop I was looking for, to signify the end of a period of isolation, introspection, self doubt and recrimination.

I have scars and marks, scratches and freckles – all of which I have earned. My body tells the story of my life, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Thank you so much for doing this Quintin, you are allowing women to discover their own flabulousness and to carry it with pride.

My pictures are gorgeous. They make me want to hug myself.

My wife is different after the shoot, before she used to shy away from doing things but now she is somehow more confident. Thank you!
