What a crazy bunch of people. Crazy good mind you; it was a great day with a lot of action and a lot of driving. I think I have been lulled into the easy life with the majority of weddings being held at a single location so once you arrive and park, you can walk from part of the day to another or at the very least be driven around in a golf cart :-)
Carla was getting ready at the Johannesburg Country Club – we arrived for some family photos and a quick portrait session with carla and it was off to the guys at St Martins in the veld where we also shot some family shots and a couple of portraits of Chris before heading into the church for the ceremony.
It felt a bit strange to not be shooting the bridal prep, but the locations for the day made up for that, after the ceremony we went to an awesome location and after almost having to bribe the security guard were finally let in as we had arranged with the owner (Whew, bit of a cold sweat there…).
We shot some dramatic shots of the bridal party before spending a little time with the couple. The sun had long since disappeared behind the hill, but that didn’t matter, the off camera flash made for some dramatic shots.
As we headed to the reception we all agreed that the graffiti wall was a must so after couple of deep breaths we jumped out of the car, ran to the wall, shot for about 40 seconds before running back to the car. I must admit I did feel a little silly afterwards, I mean none of the dealer / gangster type people who were hanging around in parked cars and looking suspicious even moved closer to us… I think.
Having said that as we drove away more and more people had started coming out of doorways. :-)
Back at the reception the party kicked in and we spent a couple of hours enjoying the party with Chris, Carla and their friends. The reception was held under a Bedouin type tent which made for great lighting and the paper lanterns suspended around the tent really added to an awesome effect.
Thanks for choosing me as your photographer guys, Chris, thanks for putting up with the camera for as long as you did, I hope you like the sneak peeks.
Greg, thanks again for assisting, great job as always!
